Philip Shelton of Shelton Construction, Inc., is dedicated to the craft of home building. He is a leader in the industry at the state level, working to promote professionalism, skill, and ethics in the industry. He believes in continuing education to be knowledgeable about the latest technologies and techniques that result in better, healthier, more energy-efficient homes for his clients.
Philip earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and established Shelton Construction in 1993. He has earned the coveted designations of Graduate Master Builder™ and Graduate Master Remodeler™ as well as those of Certified Graduate Builder™, Certified Graduate Remodeler™, Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist, and Certified Green Professional from the National Association of Home Builders’ education division, the Home Builders Institute. Less than one percent of our nation’s builders has earned one of these distinctions.
Philip is also a certified EnergyKey builder through the Home Builders Association of Alabama. This certification means that he can implement energy-efficient techniques that lower utility costs and increase comfort in the living spaces.
Philip is a leader in the community. He serves on the advisory board for the Better Business Bureau of North Alabama, is the past chairman of that board and maintains an A+ rating from the BBB. Philip also served for six years on the Morgan County Habitat for Humanity board of directors and was the builder of record for the organization during that time. He also served on the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce board of directors, was a three-time president of the Greater Morgan County Builders Association (GMCBA), was the builder of the GMBCA 2004 Showcase Home, and served as the chairman of the Remodelers Council of the Huntsville Madison County Builders Association.
